ISPO 2013 World Congress was successfully hosted at Hyderabad India with more than 1800 participants from 85 countries. Being organized for the first time in South Asia we had overwhelming response from all corners of the globe. ISPO 2013 participants witnessed over 110 Exhibition stalls from across the globe.
The Congress was inaugurated by Chief Guest Shri PB Naik, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment. Other dignitaries included Prof. Jan HB. Geertzen, ISPO President, Dr BD Athani, Chair India Task Force, Dr Ashok Johari, Chair, Scientific Committee, Carson Harte, CEO Cambodia Trust, Maj Gen Ian Cardozo, Chairman RCI and Prakash Mehta, President SPO India. Carson Harte delivered the Knud Jansen Lecture, a traditional honour accorded to ISPO's founder. This was followed by a spell bounding Indian classical dance performance by the Ananda Shankar troupe.
Overall 121 sessions which include Free papers, Instructional courses & Symposiums were successfully scheduled. Overall the presentations were of a high standard and sessions were well-attended. The Posters – over 108 – were displayed for 4 days and attracted a lot of interest. Prof Harmen van der Linde, Chair ISPO Scientific Committee, announced and congratulated the winners of the Best Poster and Best Free Papers during the closing ceremony of ISPO 2013:
The Networking Reception held in the Exhibition halls was the time for participants to make new friends and renew old ties. Business opportunities were explored and developed. All in all an arena for synergy, initiatives and motivation! The Bollywood Night was a sell-out, with over 800 participants who enjoyed live entertainment –music, dance, good food and a great lakeside venue!
